Our work. Our values.
Small Axe is a not-for-profit based in London, UK with one goal: to create movements that are progressive, hopeful and powerful, to inspire people to act on the most pressing issues of our time.
We bring together bold creative, communications and organising to run integrated end-to-end campaigns.
We campaign with humility, integrity and passion for the causes we work on; whether hired by clients, collaborating with partners, or launching our own.
We don’t work with corporations, we don’t do CSR and we don’t extract profit from the movement. We’ve been a worker co-operative from the beginning.
We’re proud that our work has played a crucial role in the last four General Elections:
Winning Green Party MP Caroline Lucas’ 2015 re-election campaign
Keeping education funding at the top of the agenda with our School Cuts campaign in 2017, 2019 and 2024;
Campaigning for a Progressive Alliance in 2019
Overcoming barriers and getting people thousands of people registered to vote with canivote.org.uk in 2024
We’ve partnered with the UK’s largest Education Union - the National Education Union - for years. In 2025 we won the hundredth millionth free school meal in London.
Our emails, graphics and videos have helped raise millions of pounds for the International Rescue Committee’s life-saving work around the world including in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan.
We’ve collaborated with the Commonwealth Foundation to facilitate meaningful conversations about Climate Justice.
We’ve campaigned with Amazon Warehouse Workers, piloted assisted voter registration, trained grassroots groups and MPs in tools for organising.
We’ve galvanised communities to demonstrate their welcome to refugees.
We’ve launched Together Alliance, a new coalition uniting against the Far Right.
And so much more.
Day to day
No day is the same at Small Axe regardless of your role. Campaigners work on multiple projects, some big, some small, with different sized teams.
Everything is done in collaboration, with continual feedback, as we push each other to build campaigns and deliver creative with impact.
Working together in the office facilitates this flow of communication and collaboration, supporting each other to work at pace, without losing attention to detail. Building strong in-person relationships is foundational at Small Axe for learning, laughing and growing as a team, keeping us strong when challenges arise.
We use multiple online tools and strategies to stay sharp and efficient. We welcome innovation, curiosity and questions, always.
“The best thing about Small Axe is the people. You get to work with driven, creative and passionate folks who are always honing their craft and supporting each other. My next favourite thing is the fact that no two days are the same. The opportunities we have to work on a wide range of issues that make a tangible difference to people's lives, from a pay rise for key workers to holding global corporations to account over worker safety, are unparalleled”
Neha, Campaigns Director
"I'm always discovering new ways to think creatively, particularly as a designer. Not only does this lead to more appropriate outcomes for a given project, but it also means that I'm constantly learning and improving my craft. At times it can be hard to respond to a challenge you've never come across before, but it's always rewarding, and there's always someone on hand to help. I have grown a lot in my time here"

The team
Our team is made up of campaigners, designers, producers and operations specialists from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Malaysia.
Our combined experiences have made us more creative, with a stronger vision of how we make change happen in the UK. We know that bold campaigns come from learning from each other.
"An environment where learning and growth are encouraged was a priority for me when seeking full-time employment. I’ve found that, and more, working for Small Axe. There is truly a sense of care and consideration in all aspects of the work, from the recruitment process to the structure of our team meetings. From day one, I’ve felt valued as a team member and part of something bigger within our movement. I couldn’t think of a better place to find my footing in the fast-paced world of campaigning."
Hila, Digital Campaigns Assistant
“I was part of Small Axe at the very beginning, working in communications and campaigns. I've seen the way the organisation has adapted, learned and stayed sharp, whilst always prioritising meaningful relationships. That's what brought me back after a few years away. Now I work in an internal role - taking care of the brilliant team and making sure things behind the scenes run smoothly. There's never any doubt that this is valued just as much as the more visible work. We cheer each other on"
Katrina, (Former) Operations Director
