3rd stage - in-person paid trial days at our central London office.
We move people through the stages as quickly as possible, we expect the interviews and trial days to take place in the second half of May.
NB:
We're not asking for a Cover Letter but there are questions to answer in Workable as part of your application. We expect to see reference to our expectations and requirements in those answers and in your CV. Please read them carefully.
All roles at Small Axe require a DBS check - as some of our campaigning work takes place in schools. Small Axe will arrange DBS checks for new staff once they’re in post. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to email joinus@thesmallaxe.com
We're interested in your unique voice, experience and motivation. That's what will make you stand out. Keep this in mind if using generative AI to support your application.
Support the production of campaign content:
Craft punchy emails, petitions, event forms and action pages that move people to action.
Brainstorm beautiful posters, social media graphics and videos that cut through the noise.
Draft compelling and moving video scripts.
Post powerful content and copy on social media, keeping our campaign channels active and inspiring.
Assist with community moderation: Help develop and moderate our online supporter communities - from supporting a specific social media channel, monitoring comments, reactions and moderation to keeping on top of supporter inboxes.
Support campaigns to run smoothly: Help us administrate and understand our campaigns and audiences better by performing accurate data entry and hygiene, cleaning contact lists or getting your head into analysis or research.
Master the tools of the movement: Time to learn and build competence across a range of digital tools — like Action Network, Airtable, Favro, Slack, CallHub, GetThru and Front.
Process documentation: Learn and accurately follow processes - from AGILE methodology to other processes that keep our organisation and campaigns running smoothly.
Quality control: You will act as the "first line of defence" for quality, learning to catch typos and broken links before the team reviews them.
Perform other duties as required.
We’ll be looking for evidence and examples of the below in your application:
This is an entry level role. It is open to a recent graduate or a candidate with equivalent experience.
A proven interest in volunteering, community organising or campaigning: that could be anything from volunteering for a local housing campaign in your area, supporting a small community-run project, being involved in - or starting - your own campaign at university. Whatever it is, we want to hear about what brings you to that work.
You are passionate about politics and making change, and curious about what makes an effective digital campaign in a political space.
You are a digital native - you’re comfortable using social media, or using AI in smart ways, or maybe you’re a whiz using spreadsheets.
You are a rapid learner who picks up new software and processes quickly.
You are eagle-eyed, with strong attention to detail — the person who notices a broken link, a misaligned logo, or a missing tracking code before it goes live.
You have the drive to see change happen in every piece of work, whether that's data entry or copywriting.
You can communicate effectively and openly with people of different backgrounds and from across the progressive political spectrum.
You have a growth mindset - you view feedback and edits as fuel for improvement, not criticism, and you're not afraid to ask questions when unsure.
You have already learnt how to juggle and prioritise your workload, managing tasks with care and precision - that could be from working jobs during your studies to working in a professional environment.
If you have experience of the following, please provide evidence and examples in your application.
Experience working agency-side, or on events, film or photo shoots.
Experience in a creative or digital role or community organising.
Basic familiarity with design tools (e.g. Canva) or website builders.
