Join our team as a Campaigns Assistant to work on a range of powerful and exciting campaigns.
A Campaigns Assistant at Small Axe works in collaboration with senior campaigners.
You’ll be working hard and learning everyday. From helping to build campaign emails to workshopping ideas for new graphics to securing venues for a photoshoot - this role will immerse you in the world of creative campaigning from the get go.
Everyday will be different, will move fast and be a learning opportunity.
This is a junior role - we don’t expect a campaign assistant to know everything. But you’ll come with at least 1 year combined experience in roles covering either creative, digital or campaigning.
Please note that all roles at Small Axe require a DBS check - as some of our campaigning work takes place in schools. Small Axe will arrange DBS checks for new staff once they’re in post. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to email hr@thesmallaxe.org
What we expect a Campaigns Assistant to do
Work collaboratively with senior campaigners and the design team to deliver creative communications - from proofing or writing punchy emails and researching ideas for moving film scripts, to planning logistics for a photoshoot, to brainstorming beautiful posters, social media graphics and videos that cut through the noise
Help produce meaningful campaign actions eg. organising petition hand-ins, getting people to show up to rallies, seeing through creative stunts like projecting slogans onto buildings
Assist on film and photo shoots - helping to get crew organised and settled, running and supporting the senior campaigner or designer to produce the shoot
Build confidence in a variety of online and offline tools to achieve your aims, always willing to adapt and learn in response to different projects, issues and audiences
Join internal and external trainings and bring new skills and learnings back to the team
Be curious - about what it means to build progressive movements and how we make change happen
Bring creativity, attention to detail and a drive to see change happen to every piece of work - whether that’s data entry or brainstorming campaign plans
Organise your workload and competing priorities across different projects with an ability to be adaptable when needed
Willing to learn and grow as a campaigner with support from a multidisciplinary team
